Rockstar ‘Sorry’ Over GTA Online Launch Problems!

After completing the main story of the massive action game Grand Theft Auto V a few days ago, I was eagerly waiting for the launch of the online section of the game, so I could once again dive in to the exciting world of Los Santos, but due to a few teething problems with the title this hasn’t been entirely possible. The Last of Us Review

Naughty Dog sure know their way around a third person action game, as it has pretty much been their bread and butter for the past few years. With their most recent success coming in the form of the Uncharted franchise. This was of the main things that drew me to their latest offering, The Last of Us, available for Playstation 3. Another reason why I picked up a copy was the fact that I love anything post-apocalyptic, but very few games in this genre manage to show the desperate struggle to survive that would accompany the end of the world as we know it. One thing that I was worried about when I picked up my controller was that The Last of Us wouldn’t be able to live up to the hype that had preceded it’s release, we were treated to a lot of promotional material and usually the final product doesn’t live up to our expectations. The Growth of the Naughty Dog Franchise!

Franchises are becoming quite a common thing in todays video game industry, some of the most successful ones getting their number of titles up in to double figures. Franchises help us gamers get straight to the action as there isn’t as much need for background stories to set the scene, as we saw it first hand in previous titles. Also games in a franchise don’t just end, we are sometimes treated to a cliff hanger ending, which builds up suspense and gives us something to look forward to by way of the next outing. Many major game developers have at least one franchise in their gaming arsenal, which is sometimes there sole focus for many years, which can sometimes make the games become drawn out and fans may start to lose interest. One company that knows how to let a franchise run its course and then bow out on a high is Naughty Dog. Not only have they had 3 very successful franchises, they have all been the face of the consoles they were released on. Read the rest of this entry

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Review

Every since I was a young lad growing up in the outskirts of London I have always wanted to be an adventurer. Travelling around the country and helping passing strangers on the road or taking them of everything they own. Somedays I might fancy doing a spot of work to earn some extra pocket money, be it back breaking hours working the local fields or just beating up some thugs for a friendly shop keeper. The world was going to be my oyster………..that was until I took an arrow to the knee. Now I find the best place to live out these dreams is to jump in to the exciting world of the latest installment of The Elder Scrolls franchise, Skyrim. Read the rest of this entry
